Michelle's Story

How a mom turned crisis into connection

Happy Family

The challenge I faced as a mom

The idea for Navimental was born from my experience navigating my child’s needlessly prolonged battle with mental health challenges. Year after year, as her health deteriorated, I felt increasingly lost and isolated. I was unable to pull together scattered information fast enough to understand what was happening, and her doctor and school weren’t recognizing the pattern in her symptoms. Overwhelmed by disconnected and complex care systems, I struggled to advocate and be the parent she desperately needed.

The lifeline I received from a friend

Our lifeline came when another mother shared her journey through her child's crisis and recovery with me. She introduced critical treatment options, information, and tips to keep me organized. She also listened without judgment, offered practical guidance, and reminded me I wasn't failing as a parent. That contact was gold, providing hope, validation, and the peer connection that only comes from someone who has walked the path.

Bringing that lifeline to others

Navimental combines the elements of that lifeline—connection, support, and practical tools—and makes them accessible to parents much sooner than they were for me. Enabling earlier intervention means maximizing kids’ opportunity to thrive and avoiding enormous emotional and financial costs. Too many families facing youth mental health challenges remain unseen and unsupported, even as their children struggle with conditions that can become life-threatening. Navimental exists to change that reality.
